The try-outs are held amid tight security and are very competitive. Apparently its not just about answering the questions but the trick is in the buzzer. The more you buzz, the greater the chance of getting to answer the question. The producers tell Jeopardy wannabes just to keep hitting that buzzer,and you even get the chance to practice with a pen.
