Stephanie, our NYC Uberchic for May 2006

Meet Stephanie, our first impromptu, on-the-train interview.
AskaNewYorker: What’s your name?

Stephanie: Stephanie….

AskaNewYorker: What do you do in the city?

Stephanie: I sell advertising.

AskaNewYorker: What agency?

Stephanie: I work for All Recipes.com

AskaNewYorker: Do you like to cook, and if so, what did you cook last night for dinner?

Stephanie: Absolutely, I like to cook, but I ordered out last night. I’m a cheat. I’m sorry…Oh! My fantastic take out food!

AskaNewYorker: What part of the city do you live in?

Stephanie: I live in Chelsea.

AskaNewYorker: How would you describe Chelsea?

Stephanie: You know, I’ve been there for a few years now. I love Chelsea. It’s a great area to live in …but it’s a little bit dirty on my street. I’m trying to get out.

AskaNewYorker: What was the last trip you took outside the city?

Stephanie: Well, I just went to Seattle and L.A.

AskaNewYorker: What do you have around your neck?

Stephanie: Isn’t this great? It’s an opaline and gold necklace.

AskaNewYorker: How long have you been in New York?

Stephanie: For the last three years; I’m from L.A

AskaNewYorker: So what’s the biggest difference between New Yorkers and…what are they called… Angelinos?

Stephanie: The people obviously are very different. I mean, here it’s authentic, you got real New Yorkers. L.A., I hate to say it, but it’s a little vacuous. New York vs. L.A., I think there’s a love/hate relationship. New Yorkers hate L.A. but they go there all the time, and vice versa.

AskaNewYorker: What’s that about?

Stephanie: I have no idea. I think everybody is jealous of each others’ lives. That’s my take on it.

AskaNewYorker: If you were a bird, what kind of bird would you be?

Stephanie: I’d be a sparrow because their just so small and cute.

AskaNewYorker: Any Pets?

Stephanie: No pets, only my boyfriend, I guess. You could call him a pet (laughter)!

AskaNewYorker: Tell us more about All Recipes.com?

Stephanie: We sell online advertising. It’s a life-style site. People who love to cook go there and find their daily gig on food. So, it’s kind of a site for all people but really for people who are food enthusiasts.

AskaNewYorker: I can’t wait to check it out. I think there are a few food enthusiasts on AskaNewYorker.com who’ll visit as well. I hope I can find a good crabcakes recipe there, for my wife. Well, here’s my stop. Gotta go! Thanks for talking with me!
