Pope Francis is starting to throw tradition away beginning next Thursday. Instead of the usual Easter Triduum at St Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will be heading to jail to celebrate the Holy Thursday Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Usually this occasion sees a Pontiff wash the feet of retired priests but instead Pope Francis will be washing the feet of 12 inmates at a juvenile facility. Even more interesting is that the prison facility houses both male and female inmates. This move which is turning Vatican protocol on its head is seen as one of the first of many to come from this man who is taking the world by storm.
