Ask a New Yorker has a message for a Co op on 68th Street – Oscar the dog isn’t moving because New Yorkers want him to stay. The dog’s owner Edgar Brandau is heartbroken. If his life wasn’t difficult enough as he battles with HIV, his Co-op board at 315 East 68th Street now want to evict his beloved dog Oscar. The board has even filed legal papers in Manhattan Supreme Court. Edgar who is 83 believes giving up his beloved pooch would be the end for him. “Taking Oscar away would kill me. They aren’t telling the truth and he hasn’t bitten anyone. He scratched a 300 pound man when he was 3 weeks old but there was no injury.”
Oscar is truly Edgar’s best friend and the Co-op’s attempts to evict the beautiful dog is clearly taking it’s toll. New Yorker’s however are coming to Edgar and Oscar’s aid and in the past few days Edgar has received hundred’s of calls from strangers who are outraged by this story.
Edgar now has to appear in Court to answer these charges which surely begs the question why a Co-op board doesn’t have the compassion to deal with Oscar face to face and not involve the court system.
Oscar stays in the picture.
