Ask a New Yorker: What’s your name and what did you do last night?

Nina: My name is Nina and I just went out with my friends, that’s all. Then went home to chat with a friend on the phone and went to sleep.

Ask a New Yorker: How many hours of sleep do you need each night?

Nina: 8 hours, I’m a big sleeper.

Ask a New Yorker: What do you do in the city?

Nina: I’m working as a cashier in a Bistro Café on Park Ave. I’m planning to go to school after that. Saving money.

Ask a New Yorker: You’re a very colorful dresser.

Nina: I like colorful things because it brightens my day. It’s better than black and white. Even though it’s Fall already, nearly Winter, I don’t think there’s anything wrong if I put some colors on. Summer’s better for me.

Ask a New Yorker: What are some of your hobbies?

Nina: I like reading and hanging out with my friends and go clubbing, although not in this country, because I’m not twenty-one yet. I like dogs, so when I see somebody with a dog it reminds me of my dog from my country. Someday I’ll have one.

Ask a New Yorker: What kind of dog would you like?

Nina: I would like a Siberian Husky.

Ask a New Yorker: And what country are you from?

Nina: I’m from Indonesia, from Bali.

Ask a New Yorker: The land of a thousand smiles?

Nina: The land of a thousand Temples and lots of generous smiles.

Ask a New Yorker: What are you reading now?

Nina: A Donald Trump book. “Why we want you to be rich”.

Ask a New Yorker: Are you planning on going to the Expo?

Nina: It’s coming up in November. Probably not this year, because I cannot afford that price right now. Next year.

Ask a New Yorker: What are your thoughts on New York?

Nina: New York is a big city. I got a little culture shock when I moved here because I’m an island girl. If I can choose, I prefer to live in Los Angeles or a smaller city than New York. After I lived here for about a year I feel New York living is more cubical. The people here have a different idea than island peoples’ way of thinking. It’s a good experience, but for a long term I don’t want to live in New York.

Ask a NewYorker: We’re an island too….and we love to smile.

Nina: Some New Yorkers, but not all. Because it’s a hard life here. But again it’s a good experience living here.
