Ask a New Yorker: Where are you headed?

Nicole: To work, downtown.

Ask a New Yorker: What do you do?

Nicole: I’m the owner, creative director, and founder of a web and graphic design firm called Captivate Designs.

Ask a New Yorker: What part of the city do you live?

Nicole: Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Ask a New Yorker: What’s Brownsville like?

Nicole: Well it was known for a lot of violence that went on 20 years ago. The neighborhood has evolved with the rise and price of real estate. It’s become a more family-oriented neighborhood.

Ask a New Yorker. Are you wearing mink, fox , rabbit or squirrel?

Nicole: Mink

Ask a New Yorker: Would you describe your “uberchic” look for me?

Nicole: I like an elegant, conservative look.

Ask a New Yorker: Do you like to dance?

Nicole: I’m Trinidadian originally. So, yes, we’re famous for dancing. We have one of the best carnivals on the face of the earth, as opposed to the one in Brazil. (laughter)

Ask a New Yorker: What’s your favorite museum in the city?

Nicole: MoMA, because it’s refreshing and you can always find something new.

Ask a New Yorker: OK, let’s take a few pictures.

Nicole: I’m not very photogenic.

Ask a New Yorker: We’ll be the judge of that. What are you reading?

Nicole: I’m reading Built to Last by James Collin

Ask a New Yorker: Snap-snap-snap…you’re very photogenic. Anything else Nicole you would like to share?

Nicole: Well, I’m very entrepreneurial. This is my second venture. My first venture failed. I’m very optimistic because of all the pitfalls, I’ve overcome already. I’m feeling good that my new business will be very successful. People come to New York from all over the world to succeed. I think I’m living the American dream. I bought my first home at 23, started my first business at 24 and at 26 I’m on to my second venture.

Ask a New Yorker: Congratulations and good luck with all your endeavors!
