Homo Sapiens – Humankind
There is confusion
and delusion.
There are times we act
without reason.
I don’t have an answer.
I’m just trying to make it.
All I really know
is life is complicated.
I don’t know what’s the best.
It changes from day to day
but one thing I will suggest
- Don’t participate in the hate.
I’ve got places to go,
but someone’s in the way.
It gets frustrating
but I have to wait.
I need through
and I’m running late
but someone else
has the keys to the gate.
I have no claim to stake
but there’s one thing I will say
whatever I do
I won’t participate in the hate.
Someone says I’m wrong,
but I see it another way.
I try to explain
but we can’t communicate.
They say it’s day,
but I know it’s night,
but on different sides of the planet
couldn’t we both be right?
Why get entangled,
it’s better to walk away,
there’s better things to do
than participate in the hate.
Can’t afford the movies,
don’t want a TV
but I can read all I want
at the library.
Everyone’s rushing in,
they all want the same thing
but every direction
leads to eternity.
Keep your cool,
don’t jump in the flames
and whatever you do
- don’t participate in the hate.
It’s been said before
I know I’m not the origin,
but “The very same sun
shines on everyone.”
I have no claim to stake
but there’s one thing I will say
whatever I do
I won’t participate in the hate.
