It is a devastating disaster and even for a place hardened by massive tornadoes, no one in Moore, Oklahoma has ever seen this kind of devastation.
CNN are reporting this is the most devastating in history for the area in terms of wind speed according to Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Tom Lamb.
10 deadliest tornadoes on record
This time, the 2-mile-wide twister stayed on the ground for a full 45 minutes. The death toll has far surpassed anything the area has seen from a tornado — and is expected to climb.
“Our worst fears are becoming realized,” Bill Bunting of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center.
The preliminary rating of damage created by the tornado is at least EF4, meaning it had winds between 166 and 200 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
After the ear-shattering howl of the killer storm subsided, survivors along the miles of destruction emerged from shelters to see an apocalyptic vision — the remnants of cars twisted and piled on each other to make what had been a parking lot look like a junk yard.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross has several shelters open in Oklahoma and Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles have begun delivering hot meals throughout the affected areas. The Red Cross is also working to link loved ones in Moore who are OK through a website called Safe and Well. Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is activating disaster response teams and mobile feeding units to help residents and rescuers in Moore, Okla., as well as in other locations in the Plains and the Midwest that were impacted by tornadoes. Donate online or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts or make a donation by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
