Hold the phone, or the 212 number. This area code is as New York as the Empire State building but internet provider Vonage wants to roll 212 out to other parts of the country. The company has asked the Federal Communications Commission to free up a pool of unused numbers to use them in other parts of the US.We say what’s in New York stays in New York and that includes our 212 area code.
